Originaire de Londres, ce chanteur, auteur-compositeur et contrebassiste vit en Bretagne depuis le début des années 90. Il navigue entre jazz, soul, blues et swing avec des compositions dans sa langue maternelle. Nourri de ses nombreuses collaborations avec des artistes américains, africains, jamaïcains et britanniques pendant quinze ans à Londres, Peter découvre la Bretagne en tournée avec son trio de jazz/blues Sitting Ducks et se considère toujours chanceux d’y habiter et d’y travailler.
Il a joué le blues avec Lowell Fulson, rock ‘n’ roll avec Sonny Curtis et a accompagné les pianistes de boogie-woogie Ben Waters et James Compton. Il a tourné et enregistré avec Electric Bluebirds, il devient ensuite chanteur-compositeur avec Darts, (le groupe de Doo-Wop rhythm ‘n’ blues le plus célèbre d’Europe aux nombreux disques d’or) et contribue comme artiste et directeur musical de 2 comédies musicales rock ’n’ roll au grand succès.
En Bretagne, il enregistre avec un album “Drums & Voices” avec seulement des voix et des percussions afro-cubaines qui donne naissance à un spectacle complet avec huit artistes sur scène. Il enregistre aussi, des albums avec : The Shakers, Unlimited Blues Time, Doo-Wop Deluxe et Jump For Joy ; puis dans la foulée, un album + tournées avec Pikey Butler’s Jumpin’ Five, un quintet inspiré de la musique noire américaine des années 40 et 50, soles jump, jive, boogie-woogie et R&B. Leur album “Streamline” (100 % compositions du leader) devient un CD fétiche des clubs de danse Swing et Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Dans le registre jazz, Peter a enregistré un bel album de co-compositions avec le pianiste parisien Alain Bernard et cinq CDs avec le dynamique sextet swing et New Orleans “Good Time Jazz”. À la contrebasse, il a accompagné des artistes de renommée internationale : Gunhild Carling, Bruce Adams, Olivier Franc, Daniel Huck, etc. Il ne cesse pas de tourner dans les festivals jazz, blues, rock, etc.
Excellent instrumentiste à la contrebasse, guitare et guitare basse, son atout principal est sa voix. Sa réputation est fondée sur son swing-groove incontournable et sur sa voix souple et mélodieuse – qui a été comparée à celle d’Aaron Neville (soul / r&b), Mose Allison (jazz / blues), Lyle Lovett (country / r&b) et même George Michael !

Peter started off his musical career as bass guitarist with several rock, jazz and soul groups around London before switching to double bass with ‘The Electric Bluebirds’. Gaining confidence as a vocalist, thanks to a disco-soul album “Seventh Avenue” with producer Ian Levine he subsequently joined the famous 9 piece high energy doo-wop R&B band “Darts” who gave him the affectionate nickname “Pikey”. As lead and harmony vocalist with Darts he toured extensively, recorded five singles and an EP and co-created the hit rock musical ‘Yakety Yak’. He then became musical director and took the lead role in the show ‘Buddy Holly At The Regal’.
During his time in London, Peter played a wide variety of music styles, working with American, African, Jamaican and British musicians. He also co-produced the first album of the acappella girl group, The Mint Juleps.
Peter discovered Brittany whilst touring with his jazz/blues trio ’Sitting Ducks’ and moved there with his family there in 1988. He is now an accomplished, versatile and well-respected bassist, having played blues with Lowell Fulsom; rock ’n’ roll with Sonny Curtis, reggae with Lloyd Charmers, afro-rock with the group Dagarti, soul with Timmy Thomas and George McRae, jazz with Daniel Huck, Bruce Adams, Gunhild Carling, Côte Ouest Big Band and numerous others. As a singer, he has recorded with the likes of Alison Moyet, Jerry Williams and The Thompson Twins and Unlimited Blues Time.
His compositions have been recorded by: Darts, Mint Juleps, The Realists, The Shakers, Drums & Voices, The Big Shots, Patrick Cany, Kevin Wright & Olga Bystram, Doo-Wop Deluxe, Vocal Club etc. With it’s wide range and velvet tone and versatility, his voice has been compared to Aaron Neville (soul / R&B) Mose Allison and Johnny Mercer (jazz/blues), Lyle Lovett (country/R&B) and even George Michael !
With 14 albums to his names since the move to France, today Peter is as busy as ever, singing, playing bass and leading several different outfits, all of which feature his own original compositions and some outstanding musicians.
